Applying Sensemaking Scientific Practices with Gizmos

Applying Sensemaking Scientific Practices with Gizmos is part 1 of a webinar version of the onsite Using Gizmos with Science and Engineering Practices. In the workshop, educators experience the four of the science practices embedded within exemplary Gizmo lessons. They analyze how those practices are utilized in a Gizmos lesson and discuss what preparation is needed in order for students to engage productively with those practices. Consequently, participants develop a deeper understanding of the Scientific and Engineering Practices and how those practices look in the classroom. They also learn to develop effective lessons around the practices that allow students to develop a deep conceptual understanding of underlying scientific principles.
