Engaging in Argumentation from Evidence

Engaging in Argumentation from Evidence enables teachers to effectively infuse literacy into their science lessons with Gizmos. Participants explore the use of the Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning Framework to support students as they construct scientific explanations and participate in discourse. Instructors facilitate this exploration through experimentation, data analysis, and argumentation. The instructor demonstrates lessons that use argumentation to support scientific investigations. In the workshop, participants develop understanding of how the use of the CER framework in science instruction supports the development of higher level thinking skills. Educators will explore the use of key literacy skills to develop student understanding of science concepts.
